Presentation of the results of the Survey of Employment Needs and Professional Profiles conducted on a biennial basis among companies in Gipuzkoa, where they are asked about their employment and hiring forecasts, the type of profile required and the greatest difficulties they encounter in hiring.

This survey, carried out simultaneously by the business associations of the three historical territories integrated in Confebask, will allow us to accompany the different social agents in the planning of the educational-training offer and to the companies to find people prepared and adjusted to their needs.

The survey aims to be a business contribution to better knowledge of the labor market and their needs, taking the pulse directly to those who hire; the companies. We were able to collect first-hand information about their expectations and forecasts regarding the planned activity and hiring, the profiles and specializations required, the qualification and training needs they demand, and the difficulties in finding the employees they need.

The companies in Gipuzkoa face 2018 with excellent prospects for activity and growth that also translate into employment: almost half of the companies indicate their need to hire more people in 2018 either due to expansion of their activity or to undertake new activities.

This translates into 7,000 new net jobs. But in addition, there will be a substitution by retirement and / or relief in 3,900 jobs, so that the contract will reach 11,200 contracts (there will be 300 losses due to dismissals, closures and / or dismissals), of which almost 60% will be undefined, mainly full-time.

The main occupation groups of the new positions to be incorporated are production personnel, qualified and commercial operators and the type of positions to be covered is focused on University Studies and the Vocational Training Cycles of Middle and Higher Level.


In addition, almost three quarters of the companies they hire find it difficult to find the professional profiles needed and especially value Attitude, Training and Responsibility at work.
